Magistrate Jah Remands Two At Pademba Road

Twenty-four-year-old Mohamed Kamara and Abdul Kargbo, a labourer, have been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown after appearing before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 over the alleged theft and damage of property at the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Building.
The two accused are facing three counts of conspiracy, larceny and malicious damage.
According to the particulars of the offence, between May 1 and May 27, 2026, at the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Building on Lamina Sankoh Street, Freetown, Kamara and Kargbo allegedly conspired with other persons unknown, to commit a felony, namely larceny.
The second count alleges that during the same period and at the same location, the accused stole 48 air conditioners, 16 steel doors, 24 double-slide glass windows, three EDSA meters and other assorted items, said to be the property of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Justice.
The third count further alleges that the accused maliciously damaged four wooden doors, also said to be the property of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Justice.
When the charges were read and explained to the two accused, no plea was taken, as the matter is before the court for committal proceedings.
The prosecution, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Eric A. Deen, informed the court that both accused had been served with copies of the case and inquiry files.
Kamara and Kargbo acknowledged receipt of the documents.
Magistrate Jah subsequently refused bail, citing the seriousness of the offences. The matter was adjourned to September 10, 2026, for further proceedings.
