APC Boycotts All Government Engagements

The National Secretariat of the All People’s Congress (APC) has announced that the party will withdraw from all engagements with the Government, citing concerns over the lack of progress in implementing the Tripartite Committee recommendations.

This was contained in a public notice issued on 12th March 2026 following two high-level consultative meetings held at the APC Party Headquarters, 11A Old Railway Line, Freetown.

According to the notice, the first meeting took place on Wednesday 11th March 2026 between the APC Party Leadership and sitting Members of Parliament, together with nominated Members of Parliament, whose names are currently on the list held by the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL).

The second meeting was held on Thursday 12th March 2026 and involved the party leadership and APC elected officials in local government, including Mayors, District Council Chairpersons, Councillors and Nominated Councillors from across the country.

The party stated that both meetings were well attended and were characterized by frank and responsible discussions, reflecting what it described as the APC’s long-standing tradition of consultation, unity and institutional discipline.

Following extensive deliberations on the current political situation and the status of the Tripartite Committee recommendations, the APC National Secretariat said both the party’s parliamentary representatives and elected local government officials unanimously endorsed the leadership’s decision to withdraw from all government engagements.

The party maintained that the decision was influenced by what it described as the Government’s continued lack of demonstrable commitment toward implementing the Tripartite Committee recommendations, which were designed to strengthen the credibility of future elections in Sierra Leone.

The APC further assured its members, supporters and the public that the party leadership remains committed to protecting democratic principles and electoral integrity in the country.
