Magistrate Julia Mary Gbloh of Pademba Road Court No.5 has sentenced Mustapha Kpaka to 40 months imprisonment after finding him guilty of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, Kpaka stole several construction materials on 31st January 2026 at No. 9 Old Railway Line, Tengbeh Town, Freetown, belonging to Abundant Life Faith Ministry International Church.
The stolen items include one 5/8 iron rod valued at Le24,000, two-inch iron rods valued at Le56,000, 100 stirrups valued at Le10,000, four trips of sand valued at Le6,000, and two trips of half-inch granite valued at Le7,000, bringing the total value to Le93,000.
Delivering her ruling, Magistrate Gbloh said that during the trial, the prosecution presented three witnesses, including the investigating officer.
After the close of the prosecution’s case, the accused was put on his defence and elected to give sworn testimony. In his evidence, Kpaka admitted taking 15 lengths of iron rods, stating that the speaker allegedly stolen was found in the possession of his girlfriend.
After evaluating the evidence presented, Magistrate Gbloh ruled that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.
The court therefore found the accused guilty of larceny and sentenced him to 40 months imprisonment.
The matter was prosecuted by Sergeant 5579 Koroma S. on behalf of the State.
