Magistrate Commits Missing Baby Case To High Court

A 25-year-old student, Fatmata Mansaray, has been committed to the High Court by Magistrate Mary Julia Gbloh of Pademba Road Court No. 5 in Freetown over an alleged child stealing case.

The accused is facing a count charge of child stealing, contrary to Section 5(b) of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.

According to the particulars of offence, Fatmata Mansaray allegedly stole a one-year, nine-month-old boy, Patrick Lavin Davidson, on Monday, 9th February 2026 at Kroo Bay in the Western Area, against the will of his parents.

When the charge was read and explained in court, no plea was taken.

During proceedings, the prosecution tendered in evidence a photograph of the missing child along with documents relating to the missing child report. Statements from the complainant, witnesses, and the accused were also produced and admitted as evidence, including the defendant’s charge statement.

After reviewing the evidence, Magistrate Gbloh committed the matter to the High Court for trial.

The accused has been remanded at the Female Correctional Centre and is expected to appear before the High Court on 24th May 2026.
