The ongoing alleged theft matter involving 28-year-old labourer, Sylvester Sandy, and 52-year-old panel beater, Sulaiman Koroma, was on Tuesday, 19th May 2026, again brought before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown on two count charges of larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916 and receiving stolen goods contrary to Section 33(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the police charge sheet, Sylvester Sandy allegedly stole one air conditioner valued at twelve thousand leones (NLe12,000), property of Angela Harding, on Monday, 2nd March 2026, at Jakily Drive, Morjay Town, Freetown, in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
Count two stated that Sulaiman Koroma, on the same date at 18 Peninsular Road, Freetown, allegedly received the said air conditioner valued at NLe12,000, knowing it to have been stolen.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused persons, the first defendant, Sylvester Sandy, pleaded not guilty, while the second defendant, Sulaiman Koroma, pleaded guilty.
Prosecutor Police Constable 18235 Thoronka K informed the court that the second defendant’s family had approached the complainant and expressed willingness to compensate her for the air conditioner. He further stated that a part payment of NLe6,000 had already been made by the second defendant personally to the complainant.
The prosecutor added that the complainant acknowledged receipt of the said amount by signing for it personally.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Fornah granted bail to the second defendant in the sum of NLe10,000 with one surety in like sum. The surety must be a senior responsible citizen residing in Freetown with a fixed address and must produce a valid national ID card. The bail conditions are to be approved by the court.
The matter was adjourned to 26th May 2026 for further proceedings.
