The US$400,000 alleged gold fraud case involving Admire Frances Bio and her husband, Alhaji Dausy Jalloh, was not called when it came up before Principal Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
Instead, the matter was administratively adjourned to July 16, 2026, following the recent death of Admire Bio’s mother, who reportedly passed away earlier this month.
The court did not hear any submissions from either the prosecution or the defence, and no proceedings were conducted. The adjournment was granted out of consideration for the bereavement.
According to the prosecution, witnesses are now expected to begin testifying on the next adjourned date.
Prosecutors indicated that all available witnesses, whether three or more, will be called to give evidence when the matter resumes on July 16, 2026, as the case proceeds through its committal stage.
The matter has attracted widespread public attention after Admire Bio and her husband were arraigned on 11 counts, including conspiracy to defraud, obtaining money by false pretences, conspiracy to rob, money laundering, receiving money on forged documents, altering forged documents, selling minerals without legal permission, and tax evasion.
The prosecution alleges that the couple fraudulently obtained more than US$400,000 from Fanni Giuseppe and Alfio Siracusa by falsely claiming to operate a legitimate gold business under the name GAN Minerals Sierra Leone Limited.
At their first appearance, the court granted both accused persons bail subject to stringent conditions, including the surrender of their travel documents, reporting to court three times weekly, and providing substantial sureties.
With the proceedings not taking place due to the family’s bereavement, all eyes are now on July 16, when the prosecution is expected to open its case by leading witnesses in the alleged gold fraud.
