SLRSA Enforces Vehicle Compliance At Mining Sites

The Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) has launched an enforcement operation targeting vehicles operating at mining sites across the country in a move to ensure strict compliance with road safety regulations.

According to a statement issued by the SLRSA Public Relations and Outreach Unit on Wednesday 11th March 2026, the authority has begun conducting vehicle licence checks within mining areas to confirm that all vehicles are properly registered and licensed.

The operation, carried out by SLRSA officials, is aimed at verifying that vehicles operating in mining zones possess valid licences and meet the required road safety and operational standards.

Authorities say the exercise forms part of broader efforts to strengthen road safety enforcement and ensure that companies and drivers operating in mining communities comply with national transport regulations.

Mining areas often experience heavy vehicle movements, including trucks transporting minerals and equipment. Officials believe the latest checks will help improve safety and accountability within those locations.

The SLRSA further noted that the operation will continue as part of its ongoing mandate to regulate and monitor vehicle compliance across the country.
