Dr. Ibrahim Bangura Receives Award From YPLS Africa Cohort‑13

By Karamoh Kabba

The Sierra Leone YPLS Africa Cohort‑13 Delegates paid a courtesy visit to the residence of the DIB Movement Leader, Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, for a brief but meaningful Award Presentation Ceremony in recognition of his outstanding contribution to youth leadership and civic engagement.

The delegation formally presented the award recently conferred on Dr. Bangura during the YPLS Africa Conference in Liberia, where he was ably represented at the conference by my very self, Karamoh Kabba, a member of the DIB Movement Central Coordinating Committee (CCC).

Today’s ceremony served not only as a moment of appreciation, but also as a reaffirmation of the Leader’s dedication to empowering young people across Sierra Leone.

Some members of the CCC and the DIB Movement were in attendance, demonstrating strong institutional solidarity and shared pride in the Leader’s achievement. Their presence underscored the collective belief that youth leadership remains central to the country’s democratic and developmental aspirations.

In his brief remarks, Dr. Bangura expressed gratitude for my representation in Liberia and for the recognition accorded to him. He encouraged the delegates to continue championing responsible leadership, community service, and national cohesion.

He further pledged to deepen his engagement with the YPLS Africa leadership, particularly in the areas of mentorship and public lectures, noting that the award belongs not only to him, but to every young Sierra Leonean striving for excellence.

The event was documented for wider visibility, with media facilitation coordinated by Cornelius Deveaux and Minkailu Koroma to ensure proper coverage and dissemination.

The presentation stands as a testament to the growing influence of Sierra Leone’s youth on continental leadership platforms and the continued commitment of the Movement to nurturing the next generation of national actors.
