The Krio Descendants Union (KDU) Dallas, Texas, in partnership with Feed My Starving Children in the United States, KDU Global, and KDU Sierra Leone, on Tuesday 21st April 2026, donated 40 cartons of Manna Pack rice to the Cheshire Home in Cline Town and Kombra Golden Kids School in Waterloo.

Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Desmond Macfoy said the donation was made on behalf of KDU Dallas, Texas, as part of the Union’s ongoing humanitarian support to vulnerable communities in Sierra Leone. He explained that KDU collaborates with Feed My Starving Children, through which they received 10 pallets of fortified rice for distribution across the country.

He noted that the Cheshire Home was selected as one of the beneficiaries, due to its long-standing service to children with special needs. According to him, the Manna Pack rice is a specially fortified blend of rice and soybeans designed to provide essential nutrients.

“The children are always in our hearts,” Mr. Macfoy said, adding that this marks the second consecutive year KDU Dallas has carried out such donations in Sierra Leone, with plans to continue annually.

The Acting Head Teacher of the Cheshire Home, Miss Kadijatu Jalloh, expressed gratitude to KDU and its partners for their timely intervention. She highlighted that the institution caters for both children with disabilities and those without, including children with autism, and has been in existence for over 64 years.

One of the beneficiaries, Blessing Kallon, also thanked KDU and its partners for their continued support and for remembering them each year.

Presenting additional cartons at Kombra Golden Kids School, Mr. Macfoy reiterated that KDU maintains strong ties with communities along the Peninsula and Waterloo. He disclosed that the donation exercise, which runs from April 21 to 27, will cover about 10 communities, including orphanages on Spur Road, York, and Kroo Town Road, among others.

He added that each carton contains 36 packs of Manna Pack rice, with 40 cartons allocated to each beneficiary institution.

The Executive Director and Proprietress of Kombra Golden Kids School, Madam Imma Kamara, also extended appreciation to KDU Dallas and its partners, describing the donation as a significant boost to the welfare of the children under her care.

The initiative underscores KDU’s continued commitment to supporting vulnerable groups and strengthening community ties through humanitarian outreach.
