After decades of frustration, disunity, and bitterness, Sierra Leoneans are currently yearning for a Leadership that prioritizes healing the psychological wounds, unity, building bridges in a politically divided nation. Politics does not mean empowerment of the selfish-few who were once entrusted the power to govern the minority. Selfishness, greed, tribalism, and deceit had once eclipsed political governance. It is high that we realised a leadership that is devoid of tribal and regional sentiments, a leadership with realistic vision for the nation, a leadership that frowns at the ugly political past, a leadership that is inclusive and ensures equity in the distribution wealth nationwide. This leadership style seems to be exhibited by Dr Ibrahim Bangura since his official commencement of the race for the flagbearer for the All-People’s Congress. He continues to traverse the country with a simple and clear dream: To heal, unite, and build Sierra Leone. This is a vision every Sierra Leonean must embrace. It is a vision that is collective and not personal. It is about Sierra Leone, not about a single tribe or region or political party. However, the onus of the realisation of this nationalistic dream squarely rests on the shoulders of the delegates who have in the past either wrongly or correctly reposed confidence in individuals of their respective political parties. Today, the APC stands on good ground to ask the electorate for another chance. Dr Ibrahim Bangura has the much-expected leadership acumen to transform Sierra Leone to another if given the opportunity to do so. His track record is undiluted. His vision of health, unite, and build resonate with the aspirations of thousands of Sierra Leoneans today across the political spectrum. The delegates of the APC are encouraged to closely monitor and assess all flagbearers and make the People’s choice. Dr Ibrahim Bangura is the choice that appeals to Sierra Leoneans nationwide. His vision is a better Sierra Leone, not an individual or tribe or region but the people. Delegates must ensure this golden opportunity does not slip the hands of patriotic Sierra Leoneans.
