Alie Turay, a Sierra Leonean Boat Operator, was on September 23rd 2026 Rescued by a Distant Water Fishing Vessel, YUANYU 708, belonging to OK Global Fisheries Company, after their Boat submerged into the Atlantic Ocean Open Waters. The Chattered Boat, according to the Survivor, Alpha Turay, took off from Sea Coach with Six of his Fellow Boat Operators when they experienced Maritime danger in the Open Ocean.
According to Alie Turay they were hired by the Management of Sea Coach to convey some Boards to Guinea when they encountered Heavy Waves in the Open Ocean that resulted in the boat capsizing.
He noted that within the axis of Sulima their Boat burst open, thereby allowing Water to gush into the Boat. This situation was worsened by the heavy rain, resulting in the submerging of their Boat.
He furthered that their initial efforts saw all seven of them boarding a Pontui, a Floating Object onboard the Boat. Efforts by Allie Turay to prevent the floating boat from sinking resulted in the wave drifting him away and seperating him from the six others, and was then spotted by the Captain of Yuanyu 708 through his binoculars and noticed the others waving their clothes signally a call of distress. It was revealed that the Captain then altered his course and headed to their direction, eventually rescuing them. The Captain promptly reported the emergency to the superior Maritime Command Center.
Speaking to this medium, Musa Watfa, Deputy Operations Manager OK Global Fishries Company, intimated that the successful rescue operations is a clear testament to the value their company places on its Humanitarian approach to distressing moments at Sea.
With well Trained Personnel on board the YUANYU 708, they were able to respond swiftly, coordinate effectively and apply best practices under pressure and preventing minor incidents from escalating into major disasters.
He maintained that modern rescue techniques Navigation and Radio Communications on board the YUAN YU 708 has strengthened their operational readiness and reduce response times during emergencies.
According to the Medics onboard the YUANYU 708, Alie Turay suffered physical exhaustion without effective Lifesaving equipment and faced fatal risks of drowning. After the survivors were safely brought on Board, they were immediately provided with comprehensive First Aid treatment and proper accommodation. All six were later safely handed over to the Maritime Police.
This is the Second Time that YUANYU 078 has been involved in a dramatic rescue mission. Five Sierra Leonean Local Fishermen were on 4th August 2026 rescued by the same OK Global Fisheries Company vessels after their Dug Out Canoe submerged into the Atlantic Ocean. The Five Local Fishermen took off from Portie Wharf when they experienced Maritime danger in the Open Ocean.
