As the All People’s Congress (APC) lower-level elections gather momentum, Dr Ibrahim Bangura, leader of the DIB Movement, has issued a firm appeal for peace, discipline, tolerance and mutual respect among party members and supporters across the country.
Dr Bangura urged members of the DIB Movement to conduct themselves responsibly throughout the electoral process, emphasizing that competition among party members must never degenerate into violence, insults, provocation or intimidation.
In a message to his supporters, Dr Bangura stated:
“We may support different candidates, but we must never allow competition to divide us.”
He urged APC members to reject any conduct capable of undermining the credibility, integrity and peaceful atmosphere of the elections, while encouraging members with genuine concerns to use the appropriate party channels to seek redress.
“Reject violence, insults, provocation and intimidation, and let genuine concerns be addressed through the proper channels,” he appealed.
Dr Bangura further reminded party members that electoral contests are temporary, while the bonds of comradeship and the broader interests of the APC will remain beyond the conclusion of the elections.
“These elections will come and go, but we will still be comrades,” he asserted.
The DIB Movement leader consequently called on his supporters to demonstrate political maturity, restraint and discipline, regardless of the candidates they may individually support.
For Dr Bangura, the strength of the APC should not be measured merely by the intensity of its internal competition, but also by its ability to preserve unity and fraternity while competing for grassroots positions.
He therefore urged party members to embrace the spirit of “Heal, Unite and Build” as the lower-level elections progress, stressing that internal competition should ultimately strengthen rather than weaken the party.
“Let us Heal, Unite and Build a stronger APC together, and may God guide our party and grant us peaceful elections,” Dr Bangura said.
His appeal comes as APC members participate in lower-level electoral contests across the country, with competing candidates and interests seeking support within the party’s grassroots structures.
The message places emphasis on the principle that political differences need not become personal divisions, and that today’s competitors can remain tomorrow’s comrades.
For supporters of the DIB Movement, the appeal represents a call to put peace, party unity and democratic participation above individual candidate preferences, as the APC’s grassroots electoral process advances.
