Ishmael Koroma has been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre following his appearance before Magistrate Mary Julia Gbloh at Pademba Road Court No. 5 in Freetown on serious assault charges.

Koroma is facing three counts: causing grievous bodily harm with intent, wounding with intent, and assault, contrary to Sections 18 and 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.

According to the indictment, the accused, on Friday, 27th February 2026, at Kroo Bay in Freetown, allegedly inflicted grievous bodily harm on Saidu Kamara with intent to cause serious injury.

The court further heard that on the same date and location, Koroma allegedly wounded and assaulted the complainant in a manner that caused actual bodily harm.

When the charges were read and explained, no plea was taken by the accused.

During proceedings, Defence Counsel informed the court that both parties were considering an out-of-court settlement. However, Magistrate Gbloh cautioned the complainant on the gravity of the offences and granted a short adjournment for him to reconsider his decision.

Magistrate Gbloh subsequently ordered that the accused be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre. The matter was adjourned to 30th March 2026 for further hearing.

The case is being prosecuted by Police Sergeant 9906 Umu Jalloh.
