Magistrate Sends Driver To 24 Months Imprisonment
Mohamed Kamanda a motorbike rider has been sentenced to twenty four months at pademba Road prison by Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No.2 on a count charge to wit Larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916
According to the particulars of offense on Tuesday 30th December 2025 at Parliament building tower hill the western area in Freetown stole one Nissan Amanda v8 Jeep with registration number MDR 001 valued seventy five thousand united states dollars and other assorted items, equivalent to the total valued of one million eight hundred and twenty seven thousand eight hundred and ninety Leones(1,827,890) property of Honourable Dixon Momoh Rogers
When the charge was read and explained to the defendant he pleaded guilty.
The Prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sorie Conteh, told the Magistrate that the defendant is a first time offender
The defendant was not legally represented and he pleaded with the Magistrate to temper justice with mercy on his behalf
Magistrate Fornah, delivering his judgement, said that having heard from the Prosecutor that the defendant is a first time offender before the court, and also heard from the defendant pleading for the court to temper justice with mercy, and furthermore taking into cognisance that the defendant did not benefit from the said vehicle, which is now currently with the owner, but the fact that the defendant stole the said vehicle with the sole intention of selling same, and having already laid the ground work of selling the said vehicle, which led to his arrest, he hereby sentenced him to serve a term of twenty four months Imprisonment, and same to be served in full, starting from the inception of the matter, and further ordered that the two vehicle number plates Exhibit D1-2 be restored to the complainant pursuant to section 56 (1) of the criminal procedure Act 2024.
