The Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority, James Bagie Bio, has been honoured with the Public Service Leadership Award at the 10th Annual African Ovation Awards 2026 held in Freetown.
The prestigious recognition celebrates Mr. Bio’s outstanding leadership, unwavering dedication to public service, and transformative contributions to policy implementation and institutional reform within the road safety sector.
According to the citation accompanying the award, the honour was conferred “in sincere appreciation of your outstanding leadership and unwavering dedication to public service. Your demonstrated professionalism, exceptional performance, and innovative approach to policymaking and implementation have transformed initiatives into tangible public benefits, setting a new benchmark for excellence.”
The award stands as a testament to Mr. Bio’s visionary leadership at the helm of the Authority, where his stewardship has continued to drive reforms aimed at improving road safety, enhancing service delivery, and advancing national development priorities.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Executive Director, Ms. Patricia Satta Sam described the recognition as not only a personal honour for Mr. Bio, but also a tribute to the collective commitment and hard work of the entire SLRSA team.
This latest accolade further reinforces the growing national and continental recognition of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority’s contribution to public sector excellence.
Speaking on the honour, the Executive Director expressed gratitude to the organizers of the African Ovation Awards and dedicated the award to the staff of SLRSA and the people of Sierra Leone, reaffirming his commitment to continued service and innovation.
The Deputy Executive Director, Josie Scott Manga, receiving this honour on behalf of Management, expressed commitment to work hand in gloves with the Executive Director.
