Driver Steals Kingho Mining Toyota Hilux Valued Over Alleged $40,000

A driver, Jabbious Jabbie, has appeared before Magistrate John Manson Fornah of pademba road court No.2 Freetown over an alleged theft of a Toyota Hilux vehicle belonging to Kingho Mining Company, valued at US$40,000. Jabbie is charged with larceny by servant, contrary to Section 17(1)(a).

According to the charge sheet, Jabbie allegedly, on 25 April 2026, at Lumley, Freetown, being a servant employed by Kingho Mining Company, stole one white Toyota Hilux vehicle bearing registration number AWT 771, valued at US$40,000, equivalent to NLe 960,000, and belonging to the mining company.

The charge sheet states that Jabbie, a Sierra Leonean residing at No. 6 Brima Lane, Bo City, was arrested on 14 September 2026 at 17:15 hours. The complaint was reportedly made on 27 August 2026 by the Inspector General of Police.

When the matter came before the court, the charge was read to Jabbie, but no plea was taken.

During the proceedings, Defence Counsel I. J. Ali informed the court that there had been a problem with the accused receiving or accessing his copy of the case file. Counsel therefore sought time to peruse the file, particularly in relation to the cross-examination of the two witnesses.

The defence request was noted by the court, and the matter was adjourned to 6 October 2026. The handwritten proceedings also indicate that a subpoena was to be served, although the name of the person to be served is unclear.

The case remains before the court for further proceedings.
